Live a little. Die a little.

What got me stoked last weekend:

1. Good music by the beach. Perfect way to cap off a paddle-'til-you-pass-out Saturday session in Bacnotan.

2. Flippin Soul Stompers. Because they deserve a special mention. Because they are one of my most favorite Pinoy live acts. Because it takes a set that awesome for me to dance non-stop, even if my left leg is still limping from a bobo surf injury I got myself into that morning.

3. Taking this shot.

4. And this shot.

5. Being in the company of surf friends again after two months of mandatory house arrest. :P

6. Classic LU scenes such as these.

Kuya Abe being, well, Kuya Abe :)
7. Watching single and unattached surfers battle it out at the Point.

8. Getting out of the lineup unscathed after that Sunday afternoon session. It was windy and the waves were quite big for my amazing whitewater surfing skills. I tried getting out thrice, but each time, it felt like the beach break was the venue of choice for a grand eyeball of angry whitewater. Not wanting to leave LU un-stoked, I coerced Fernando (my first surf instructor and a very good friend) to help me out. Fernando was a little drunk, and was not wearing boardshorts (not naked, he was in walking shorts), but my persuasion level was bordering on desperation and shameless crying. I left him with no choice.

Our conversation in the line-up  basically went like this:

Fernando: "Baliw ka talaga, Miccah." (around 10 times)
Me: "I know. Isa pa!"

In an hour, I got one long right. And that's enough. I died a little. But I lived. :)

Dying to surf again,
Miccah
