Lessons Under The White Lights

AKA Five things I learned on my first skate lesson/on my first attempt at skate photography

1. Skate photography is an entirely different animal. I thought it would be like surfing's brother or best friend. But it turned out to be surfing's best friend's third cousin... from another mother. Shooting fast moving subjects under low light proved to be a headache. Nevertheless, it's a headache I'm willing to have everyday.

2. The scene can get pretty crazy. Like really crazy. :)

3. Those seconds when you know you're going a bit too fast, and you don't know how to stop, and you don't know how to turn either because hey guess what, it's your first lesson (!), and that certainty that you're going to kiss make love with the pavement is one of the worst feelings in the world. 

4. 7-Eleven is not called a convenience store for nothing. Also, the security people in Fort are among the nicest people ever.

5. Skateboarding, like surfing, is a great way to take your mind off things. As you glide in smooth asphalt under the glow of the city lights, it's easy to get lost in your thoughts (or the lack thereof). But what am I saying? You probably know that already. 

Now go get stoked as I look for a secondhand board.
